Laminate Flooring
Why Choose Laminate Flooring?
Laminate flooring is a practical and stylish choice for busy homes, offering the look of real wood without the higher price tag or maintenance. Modern laminate comes in a huge range of colours, textures and finishes, with realistic wood designs that can suit everything from traditional to contemporary interiors. It’s durable, easy to clean and resistant to everyday scratches and wear, making it a great option for living rooms, bedrooms, hallways and other high-traffic areas. With the right preparation and professional installation, laminate provides a smart, hard-wearing floor that looks great and offers excellent value for money.
When Would You Choose Laminate Over LVT?
Both laminate and LVT are excellent flooring options, but there are situations where laminate may be the better choice. Laminate is often more cost-effective, particularly when covering larger areas, while still providing a high-quality and realistic wood appearance. Its thicker, rigid construction can also give it a more substantial feel underfoot, and many customers prefer the look and texture of a good-quality laminate when trying to recreate the appearance of real timber.
Laminate is particularly well suited to living rooms, bedrooms, hallways and other dry areas of the home where you want an attractive, durable floor without the additional cost and preparation that can sometimes come with glue-down LVT. LVT, on the other hand, is often the better choice for areas where water resistance, intricate designs or a lower-profile floor covering are important.
At Eden Flooring, we can talk you through both options and recommend the most suitable flooring based on your room, subfloor, budget and the finished look you want to achieve.
Which Laminate Do We Recommend?
Not all laminate flooring is created equal, and we’re happy to give our opinion based on the products we work with every day.
In our experience, Quick-Step is one of the best laminate flooring options available. The quality, finish and locking systems are excellent, and it’s a product we’re very confident installing. The downside is price – Quick-Step sits towards the premium end of the laminate market, so it won’t suit every project or budget.
For most homes, Kronospan is our go-to recommendation for the best balance between quality and cost. It offers a great-looking, durable floor with a reliable fitting system, without the premium price tag. For customers looking for a good-quality laminate that represents excellent value for money, this is often where we recommend starting.
We can also supply more budget-friendly laminate options when keeping costs down is the priority. These can be ideal for rental properties, preparing a house for sale, flipping a property, or simply giving a room a quick and affordable refresh.
We don’t believe there’s one flooring product that’s right for everyone. We’ll happily explain the differences between the options and help you choose a laminate that suits your home, budget and expectations.
Is Laminate Right for Your Home?
Laminate has come a long way, and a good-quality modern laminate can provide a fantastic combination of appearance, durability and value for money. The key is choosing the right product for the room and making sure the subfloor and installation are properly considered from the start.
At Eden Flooring, we don't believe in recommending the most expensive option simply because it costs more. We'll look at how the room is used, the condition of the existing floor, your budget and the finish you're hoping to achieve. Sometimes that means a premium laminate such as Quick-Step, sometimes a great-value Kronospan floor, and sometimes a more budget-friendly option is all that's needed.
If you're unsure whether laminate, LVT or another flooring type would work best in your home, we're always happy to talk through the options and explain the advantages and compromises of each. Our aim is simple: to help you choose a floor that looks great, performs as it should and makes sense for your budget.
